Welcome to My
Mental Health
Journey
Hi! My name is Sunny.
My name is Sunny, and I have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, complex PTSD, depression, and anxiety. I’ve had a tough time living with these illnesses, but I’m trying to get healthier. I’ll be sharing my experience in therapy and what it’s like to live with these mental illnesses in my daily life, because I believe that the best way to genuinely de-stigmatize mental illness is to really get to know someone’s experience with it. I want to show the nitty gritty, not-so-pretty side of self-care and my wellness journey so that someone out there will be able to see what it’s really like for a person struggling with their mental health, and maybe will feel less alone in their own journey, or will have a better understanding of someone they care about. I hope that in sharing my real journey with mental health, both the highs and the lows and everything in between, I can help in the fight to normalize mental health struggles and getting help when you need it.

My Return & What is Therapy?
Good therapy isn’t about fixing your problems– it’s so much more than that! Good therapy is about having a safe place to unpack those problems, figure out what’s lying underneath those problems, understand their impact on you and your life, and having a support as you begin to deal with those problems in whatever manner befits it, whether that’s acceptance or change. A good therapist will be a companion on that journey.
Radical Acceptance
But realizing that I can’t change them has also been freeing, because now I am no longer burdened with a task that has always been impossible.
Shame and Perfectionism
If shame thrives off of secrecy, silence, and judgment, then the opposite of those things is honesty, vulnerability, and empathy.
